Joe Camozzi has been a staple in the Norwood and Needham basketball and volleyball communities for more than two decades, earning a reputation as an accomplished coach, dedicated educator, trusted mentor, and one of the area’s premier teachers of fundamental basketball.

Camozzi’s coaching career has been defined by his ability to teach, develop, and transform athletes and programs. As head coach of Norwood Volleyball from 1999–2004, Camozzi inherited a program that had finished in last place in the Bay State Conference for four consecutive seasons. Under his leadership, Norwood completed a remarkable turnaround, ultimately winning the Bay State Conference championship. His work was recognized in 2002 when he was named Bay State Conference Coach of the Year.

His basketball résumé is equally extensive. Camozzi served as an assistant basketball coach at Framingham State University from 2001–2005 and as Associate Head Coach for Norwood Basketball from 1999–2001 and again from 2004–2007. He has since become a major presence in Needham youth basketball through his work with Needham Metrowest Basketball and its Board of Directors, establishing himself as one of the winningest coaches in the history of Needham’s Metrowest program.

More than his record, however, Camozzi is known as a master technician and teacher of basketball fundamentals. His ability to break the game down, teach proper footwork, shooting mechanics, ball handling, passing, spacing, and decision-making has helped generations of young players build a true foundation for the game. Camozzi combines an old-school attention to detail with an exceptional ability to connect with young athletes, demanding proper technique and effort while simultaneously building confidence. His philosophy has always centered on the belief that great players are developed through fundamentals, repetition, accountability, and an understanding of how to play the game the right way.

Across basketball and volleyball, Camozzi has spent decades helping young athletes become more skilled, more confident, and better teammates. His impact reaches far beyond wins and championships, with countless athletes benefiting from his ability to teach the details of a sport while creating an environment in which young people genuinely enjoy learning and competing.

A longtime Needham resident, Camozzi lives in the community with his wife, Diane, and their children, Chris, Sophia, and Annie. His deep roots in both Norwood and Needham, combined with decades of coaching and teaching experience, have made him a respected and enduring figure in the local basketball and volleyball communities.
